Checkpoint: Moms

McCain and Obama's scramble to rack up votes has now become a dead heat.  The majority of the youth vote is Obama's hands down.  The older, male vote goes to McCain.  Amidst all the careful strategizing there's one group that's been overlooked, but as Time Magazine has pointed out, will be the deciding factor in the upcoming election.

Stressed out, overworked, busy moms are the checkmates.  The middle aged ladies who really experience the current dilemmas in our country and face them on a first hand daily basis are rightfully so the ones that will swing the final decision.  In Time Magazine's most recent edition, reporter, Karen Tumulty, unveils the target that McCain and Obama should really be aiming at.  Most moms are too pre-occupied dealing with bills, mortgage payments, errands, and family to tune in with every single twist and turn that happens in a presidential election.  The trials of making it day to day with a failing economy, rising prices, not to mention taxes, understandably prevents the co-head of the family siding with either McCain or Obama.

As Tumulty points out in Maxed Out Moms, the main concern is who's going to fix the economy.  Naturally as any good mother would wish, the interest of the child comes first, and it's the youth who will bear the grunt of the economic crisis;  thus, the Moms' choice will go to the candidate who offers the best solutions.  Currently, the Mom's vote is on the fence;  however, the sooner we inch to election day, the more campaigning we will see directed at the mothers of the country.
