The VP Debate

I have to admit I watched the VP debate for entertainment more than anything. I just wanted to see if Joe Biden would really slaughter Sarah Palin like everyone was saying he would. I have come to the conclusion that I view the outcome of the debate as most of America does: She did better than expected but he actually won the debate. I thought she came out very nervous and unsure of herself. That soon faded. It was like you could see a huge sigh of relief when she realized she could actually do this! All the training she received at John McCain's ranch actually worked. Joe Biden never seemed nervous to me, however he did seem to be very cautious. He seemed like he was having to try very hard not to lose his cool or talk down to her. As for the debate topics, I think both did a pretty good job of staying on track, with the exception of Palin's "I'm not going to answer the questions like the moderator or anyone else wants me to, I'm going to talk strait to America." The two seemed to actually enjoy meeting each other for the first time. I wish we could have heard what they said to each other after the debate ended and all their families were onstage. I thought it was nice that they all stayed and chatted for a few minutes unlike the presidential debate here in Oxford. When McCain and Obama escorted their wives off stage the four shook hands and ran off like they couldn't stand the sight of each other. Presidential politics can be downright nasty and every now and then it is nice to see our candidates show a friendly side.
