Wow.
What an election! History was most definitely made tonight: the first African American President elected in the United States. I don't think another election will be able to top this one. It was an amazing ride for both candidates, and I truly enjoyed taking part in it.
Watching flashes of Obama supporters crying and cheering when the news of Obama's victory was announced was very emotional and moving. I especially was moved by one image of an African American man who had tears streaming down his face; you could truly see how much this election meant to him and those who were reacting the same way around him.
McCain's speech at the end was absolutely wonderful. I thought he approached his defeat with great respect for his opponent and also great pride in the strides his campaign, supporters, and fellow Republicans made in this election.
I cannot wait to see what happens in the upcoming months and years during Barack Obama's years in office. He now has the toughest job in the world; I just hope he can live up to his reputation and return our nation to its former days of growth and prosperity we all wish to have returned to us.
