Despite recent reports that he has not complied with all campaign finance reporting procedures, Bill Armistead was elected to follow Mike Hubbard as chairman of the Alabama Republican Party:
Armistead cautioned Republicans to watch out for Democrats trying to interfere in party elections with either crossover voting or running as pretend Republicans in future elections.The race between Armistead and state Rep. Jay Love was widely considered a power struggle between Bob Riley (Love) and Robert Bentley (Armistead) with the new Governor coming out on top.
He said he was appointing a committee to examine ideas such as party registration and other ways to make certain Republicans are running the Republican party.
On a personal note, congratulations to my friend David Ferguson who managed Gov. Bentley's GOP primary campaign and was also in charge of Mr. Armstead's campaign.
