As I will now admit that I am a McCain fan, I couldn't help but feel excitement and pride during Obama's victory speech tonight. His oratory skills truly shined, and I felt the excitement building inside of me as he spoke of the future and how bright it would be for our nation.
I can't wait to see what will be the first effects of this election that has played such a huge role in the media and most of our lives throughout the political year. This election has dominated the political scene for so long that it will be quite interesting to see what issue will stream forth first as the primary issue to be dealt with during Obama's first days in the White House.
I can't imagine the relief he felt when he was finally rewarded for all his hard work during the campaigning, but I also can't imagine how he must feel now that he has finally received this job he has been striving towards for so long. Whatever his first move is as President, no matter what side he chooses on this first issue, he will be met with much animosity from his opponents, and the unity he spoke of in his victory speech will of course not immediately be there to support him. I only hope his first move will be one the reflects what is best for this country, even if it may be met with reproach from others.
What America needs right now in this present moment is not so much Obama's change he always speaks of so adamantly, but rather a leader who will be a source of stability in these first weeks and months in order for our great nation to pick itself back up again and stand proud. I am not against Obama's change; I just think it needs to be postponed for a little while until our country is stable enough economically and internationally to handle the change that could be a great asset to this nation.
I am happy the election is over and looking forward to the future.
Good luck President Obama and God Bless America!
