Exclusive customs counters for foreign residents make airport clearance easier
The National Immigration Agency (NIA) of the Ministry of the Interior added two exclusive counters for foreign resident certificate holders at Taoyuan International Airport’s Terminal 2 on June 11 this year (2010). This is intended to facilitate more convenient customs clearance for Taiwan’s foreign residents, including any ARC holders.
These measures are in keeping with the international standard, followed by most countries, providing easier customs clearance services to foreign residents. At Japanese airports, for example, there are counters designated for “nationals,” “foreigners” as well as “re- entry.” Taiwan’s foreign residents are now being welcomed to make good use of the two new counters set up by the NIA, which not only echo the practice of other advanced nations but also are a response to the expectations of foreign residents and chambers of commerce in Taiwan.
