GOP Balks On repeal Of The "62%" Pay Raise

Never mind that the pay raise as criticized by the GOP in 2010 wasn't 62%, I hope no one actually though those GOP legislators that demagogued this issue were actually going to repeal it.  If you did, you will be surprised to hear that despite Republican Governor Robert Bentley's call for a repeal of the pay raise the GOP legislature is at an impasse:
Sen. Gerald Dial, R-Lineville, is refusing to let Republican leaders bury a resolution he and two others offered to repeal the 2007 raise, and he has some fellow Republicans on his side.

Senate Rules Committee Chairman Scott Beason of Gardendale, one of the few Republicans who supported the 2007 legislation, had Sanford’s resolution on his committee’s agenda Thursday for approval. But he left Dial’s off.

Dial spoke up, urging that both resolutions be sent to a subcommittee for study. Dial’s suggestion got support among some committee members, and Beason agreed to appoint a subcommittee. He said the Rules Committee will likely take up the issue again next week.

After the meeting, Sanford said, “We’re at a stalemate.”
