Sewell has certainly won the fundraising battle. She held a more than three-to-one fundraising advantage over state Rep. Earl Hilliard Jr. (D) at the end of March. She has also earned the backing of the powerful, and well funded, pro-abortion rights group EMILY's List.Hilliard has picked up the endorsement of the Congressional Black Caucus political action committee and has found a key ally in Rep. Bennie Thompson (D.), who represents Mississippi's 3rd district just over the border. Hilliard Jr. is currently in the field with radio ads but has yet to go on television.
