If you happened to watch the news this week and waded through all the oil spill coverage you might have noticed trouble brewing around Gaza because of the killing of some peace activists 40 miles off the coast. I think the Israeli's would argue that the blockade is necessary and I am in no position to contradict that assessment, but I have been wondering if their blockage violates international maritime law and I found an article that seems to explain the issue very well and also leads one to conclude that the blockade, occurring in international waters, certainly is illegal.
