Obama is President-“This is Our Victory”

With a landslide win of 338 points to McCain’s 159, Barack Obama has been elected the 44th President of the United States of America. This election has been momentous to say the least. ABC has said this election has teared up the record books. As the longest election ever, a record breaking136 million people voted, the first African-American president in history, Obama raised more campaign money than any other candidate in U.S. history, by utilizing the power of the internet. And the list goes on. What I think is historical though is this era of change we are about to enter. Yes, it may sound cliché, but I truly believe we are destined for better things and stronger leadership. This is one of those rare times when both candidates have recognized a nation’s current problems and sought to resolve them. Obama’s acceptance speech tonight in Chicago was a preview of what is to come. His opening lines read

“if there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is the answer.”

Tonight is the answer. Obama is the answer and I am excited for change. I must admit though, I have my skepticism and am in a way afraid of what the future holds. Will Obama pull through with his promises?
