The Big Day

As we all know, today is Election Day. I think it deserves to be a proper noun. The polls closed in Mississippi just moments ago. I didn't encounter any long lines today as I went out to cast my vote for national as well as local elections.
It caught me off guard today while I was standing at a machine with people looking at me. There are no physical booths in my small voting precinct in Pontotoc; just 2 machines strategically placed across from each other so that your selection is still private. I get so wrapped up in who am I going to choose for president that I forget any other elections exist.
I was way out of the loop on my town news. I didn't recognize many of the selections. Then, I get to the last question asking me if I think Pontotoc should enact an ordinance regulating placement, etc. of mobile home parks.
That was when I was brought back to the world where Obama or McCain is not the only issue. My town puts mobile home park ordinances on the same page as America's next potential presidents. Now I am just monitoring the progress of the polls.
