Superman Syndrome

Last week was one of the most amazing weeks of my life. For the presidential debate, I got the opportunity to work for NBC Nightly News. During that time, I worked for Nightly News and Specials Senior Producer Maralyn Gelefsky. Needless to say the entire experience was an honor!

And from start to finish, I didn’t stop moving. It seemed like I was constantly working. I got very little sleep that week for sure, ranging from 3 hrs of sleep to 5 hrs each night. All on my own accord. But… That’s the way I wanted it. I wanted to be where the action was and to learn everything I could about the process.

Working the debate gave me back my old “Superman Syndrome” where my world was alive and I felt like I could do anything!

And working with the different news reporters such as retired Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw, Nightly News anchor Brian Williams and Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell was truly an Honor! They were all wonderful people to work with, and I took notes on how they did everything.

One of my favorite moments with Mr. Tom was early Saturday morning at a gas station. I was there with him and his wife and as we walked in an older gentleman came up to us and asked him “Are you who I think you are.” Brokaw jokingly responded… “No, I’m not Eli Manning.”

Working with NBC was truly and AMAZING EXPERIENCE! One day I hope and cross my fingers that I may in fact be a whole part of that one day. I may have gone back to being mild mannered Clark Kent again for now, But the world will need Superman again!
