The Greatest Show on Earth!!!
We have now had two weeks to recover from the "The Great Debate"; and now that's its over..Im still trying to adjust back to being a full-time college student. As a CBS intern for the week, I was fortunate enough to watch the entire production process unfold. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of trips to Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and the campus Starbucks, but those trips contributed to the over all nostalgia of the experience. We were the only interns that I notice that work from dust 'til dawn with there production crew, and I soaked up every moment of it. We were able to see them turn a trailer home into a full control room equipped with two offices. We saw the audio crew plug in what look to be a jungle a varied colored cables to produce the feed back for the back as well as the CBS Nightly News. We were able to assist the EIC (Engineer-in-Charge) measure and set up the cables all the way from the Ford Center parking lot to the mezzinine level of the theatre. We assisted the camera crew and the telecommunications representative set up the Ford Center platform were the Presidential Debate was filmed. And we even got to meet Katie Couric; and admire her as she rode away on a golden Ole Miss golf cart to tour campus, all while throwing the hand symbol for her college sorority, Delta Delta Delta. The experience was reminiscent of an wedding...expenses are not an option; it is all hyped up, all until the event actually takes place; and once its over, you wonder where it went. AWWW...good times!!!!
